		Vinod Sharma [1953] paints with easy facility those aspects of nature that provides visual contrasts of solidity and fluidity namely rocks and water. Nevertheless his thematic range is diverse ranging from portraits to still life to landscape, animals, Indian historical and religious subjects. The inherent artistry manifests in whatever subject he chooses to paint. An instinctive and intuitive painter, he manipulates his tools to the contingency of his subject. Says Vinod, “One has to take quick decisions while painting. I have been painting rockscapes for 15 years. In oils I work with texture,
blade and the works; with watercolours I play with water.” His rockscapes and landscapes evoke mood and emotions that range from craggy harshness to poetic subtleties.
