M. Senathipathi’s [1937] canvases are vibrant with kaleidoscopic colours and intricately woven linearity that foregrounds social or cultural issues. The present work gestures towards violence, and death that is becoming integral to our lives and society in general. The iconic metaphor of death and peace represented symbolically through the garland of skulls and the abhya mudra in the persona of Kali is poignantly rendered.
