Vinnyasa Premier Art Gallery, Chennai was founded in 1996 by Viji Nagashwaran – an artist in her own right. The gallery started up on a small scale at Wellington Plaza. With growing demand, it soon expanded its activities and moved to the premises of the Music Academy on May 1st, 1999 – the center for arts and culture in South India.

Today Vinnyasa has further expanded and moved to an even larger space at CIT Colony in Mylapore. Vinnyasa Premier Art Gallery showcases works of artists from across the country and has held over 200 shows to date at an average of 10 sponsored shows per year.

The gallery is also available to individual artists who can organize their own shows on the premises. Vinnyasa Premier Art Gallery aims to provide visibility to artists from all parts of the country who wish to showcase their work in Chennai. Providing a prestigious platform for established and promising artists alike and encouraging awareness of art in the city has been Vinnyasa's primary objective. Every year a handful of junior artists come into limelight and make their mark in the art world and Vinnyasa is proud of being part of their growth. The Gallery holds an annual “Affordable Art Show” in the months of May and June to showcase the works of young upcoming talents and demystify the myth of art being accessible only to the wealthy and erudite.
The Affordable Art Show has paved the way to make art accessible and visible to all those that appreciate it and successfully broken the big wall between the art buyer and the artist by bringing contemporary art to the common man. The gallery has a clientele which includes prestigious Indian and international corporate houses as well as many private connoisseurs of art in India and abroad.

Vinnyasa Premier Art Galery sources all works of art either directly from the artists or from highly reliable agents. All artworks are screened by experts, for both style and content prior to acquisition to ensure authenticity.
